Cold River Mini Series

JACKSON NH – Whether it’s a song, a style, an idiom or an image, Duke Robillard will render it with mastery, power, nuance and an unerring grasp of its essence. Duke’s resume is decorated with Grammy nominations, Handy Awards and Blues Music Awards, and other honors for his artistry, recordings and productions within the United States and internationally. On his latest release, “Duke Robillard and his Dames of Rhythm” on M.C. Records, he wields an acoustic archtop and joins six thrushes for evocative and enjoyable renditions of 1920s and 1930s swing tunes; it’s a worthy successor to his 2016 BMA-winning “The Acoustic Blues And Roots Of Duke Robillard.”

Host Jonathan Sarty opens the show at 4:30pm.

Wildquack Duck Race & Music Festival

JACKSON NH – Due to the Covid-19 virus we have had to reschedule our Duck Race & Music Festival.  This year we plan on giving our locals, visitors, friends and family a fun filled weekend celebrating our move toward re-opening with a weekend long Grand “Welcome Back” celebration.

The celebration starts on Friday night July 31st with Fireworks, then on Saturday, August 1st from 10 AM until 3 PM we will be hosting the annual Wildquack Duck Race & Music Festival.  Things maybe a little different as the Wildcat River maybe too low for the ducks to swim but we will figure out how it will all go as we get closer to the event.

You can expect food vendors, kids games, fun for the entire family… lots of prizes and just celebrating being together.  For more information please visit our website.

Jackson Village Park located on Route 16 A in Jackson Village, Jackson, New Hampshire.

Jackson Art Studio

JACKSON NH – Outdoors @Jackson Art Studio – With Award winning painter, George Van Hook
Ridge Rd, Jackson NH

In this weekend  portrait painting workshop, students will first start by drawing the head to understand the structure and form. The model will be set up outdoors and we will be combining the natural environment with the portrait and natural light. (outdoor tents will be set up if needed) We will investigate the specifics of individual features. After lunch, participants will paint the head in their chosen medium using a limited palette of primary colors.  The focus of this will be creating a recognizable form.

George will teach in a loose impressionist style through demonstration and individual coaching. On the second day, students will again begin with drawing and creating a limited palette study. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon doing a full color portrait bringing all that we learned into play. This workshop is for those with some familiarity with painting but all levels are welcome and all mediums appropriate including oils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics. Students are required to bring their own supplies. Class size will be kept small for individual attention.

Sat & Sun, April 25 & 26, 9am-4pm,  $295

Cancellation Policy: We ask that you to give us four weeks notice if you need to cancel for a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. seek the peak

Seek the Peak 2020 Has Gone VIRTUAL – Hike-On & Seek YOUR Peak!

The COVID 19 pandemic has hit the Mount Washington Observatory financially. Many nonprofits are in similar situations, but the timing is especially critical for the Observatory.

This summer we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Seek the Peak fundraiser. What is ordinarily a hiking extravaganza will be a virtual experience this year. Our celebration will be a collective of shared hikes online from across the nation. We rely on this event for a good part of our annual budget. The Observatory has weathered many storms in our 87 year history but this change means we need your support more than ever.

We already have participants committed to raising funds and seeking their own peak.
We are grateful for these dedicated folks.

Here’s where you come in. Contribute to a participant. Or set up a team of your own, even without hiking, and raise funds for the Observatory. Help make this the most successful year ever for Seek the Peak.
