FRYEBURG ME – The Met Opera Live in HD series presents Samson et Dalila at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center at 1 PM. When mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca and tenor Roberto Alagna joined forces for a new production of Carmen at the Met, the results were electrifying. Now this star duo reunites for another sensual French opera when they open the season in the title roles of Saint-Saëns’s biblical epic Samson et Dalila. Darko Tresnjak, who won a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 2014 for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, makes his Met debut directing a vivid, seductive staging, featuring a monumental setting for the last-act Temple of Dagon, where the hero crushes his Philistine enemies. Sir Mark Elder conducts the first new Met production of the work in 20 years. $26-Adults, $23-Seniors (65+), $18-Students.

JACKSON NH – Dance the night away under the stars and the Jackson Covered Bridge on Saturday August 05, 2017 starting at 7:30 PM. Featuring… Jon Sarty and the White Mountain Boys. As with all talented musicians they will have their own following as well as everyone who has been to the Covered Bridge Dance in the past, therefore we recommend you come early and pick your spot. There are a number of tables and chairs provided but they go fast. Bring your own chairs, blankets, friends, family and, of course Dancing Shoes. The Jackson Community comes together for this Old Fashioned block party once a year and you are invited.
It isn’t often you see any of New Hampshire’s Covered Bridges closed to vehicles… but on this very special night the Jackson Covered Bridge will be closed from 5 PM until midnight for this great event. You know an event is worth the trip when it stops traffic… signs will be posted and our very own Jackson Police crew will be on hand to redirect traffic as needed. If you are visiting a local business located in the loop merely continue north on route 16 and take the first right after the Covered Bridge to get into Jackson Village. Please note… all Jackson Village businesses normally opened at night will most certainly remain opened during this event. So please… mark your calendars and join us for a night of Dancing under the Stars and the Jackson Covered Bridge.
Parking for this event will be marked. The entrance fee to the Covered Bridge Dance is FREE thanks to our major sponsors: Whitney’s Inn at Jackson, Inn at Jackson, Flossie’s General Store, Homer’s Appliance and the Inn at Ellis River. Donations are always welcome.
Be sure to come hungry and enjoy a wonderfully delicious menu prepared by Apple Buns!
As this event is weather dependent please check back for a rain date.

A night with Acoustic Nuisance at The Wildcat Tavern in Jackson, NH is a unique trip through the musical minds of it’s main protagonists: multi-instrumentalist Scots born Davey Armstrong……. fellow Scot and guitar/guitar-synth Folk-Rocker Simon Crawford…. and acoustic guitar and bouzouki playing London-Irishman Kevin Dolan..all ably accented by Becky Armstrong’s fine vocals, for an entertaining blend of acoustic/electric virtuosity and vocal harmony…
Humour is ever present, as is audience participation, and alongside a varied menu of Celtic and Americana, plus their own original tunes and songs, you are likely to be confronted by guitar, tin-whistles, Irish and Scottish Pipes, bouzouki, banjo, harmonica, bass-pedals and synths – and that’s just from Davey(!) …often while singing and playing 2 or 3 at the same time…
Hailing from the British Isles but living right here in the Mount Washington Valley, the band is looking forward to another fun night in the Cold River Radio Show Mini-Series and hoping old friends (and new!) will join them at this pre-Christmas event. Come on out!
