Return of the Pumpkin People – October 1-30

JACKSON NH – This premiere event is celebrating its 39th year. This event is a self-guided tour available to you throughout the day or evening hours at your leisure.

Our businesses hosting Pumpkin People work very hard at creating the displays for your enjoyment… this year we anticipate even more displays than usual with more than 50 displays. You see Pumpkin People doing just about anything and sometimes even the impossible. Please remember to vote for your favorite. There is a ballot on the back of every map. Maps are available at participating businesses and located in brochure racks throughout the area. Ballots can be dropped off at any of the participating businesses or at the Chamber offices. New Hampshire, and especially our area, offers some of the most beautiful and awe inspiring views and events… please remember we need your help to keep the incredibleness going. Remember to thank your front line employees and as things challenge us during times such as Covid days be mindful that the challenges fall upon us all. Working together to be able to offer events such as this is something we all need to strive for… levity and fun can wash away stress. We thank you for respecting our State’s recommendations and or mandates that may be in place at the time of this event and or any of our events. If restrictions are tightened or loosened we shall be sure to keep this page up to date. Be well everyone and lets enjoy the little things which make us smile!

Maps and People Choice Award Ballots will be available by September 15, 2023. You can request them by calling the office at 978-580-0905, sending an email to info@jacksonnh.com or picking one up at any of the participating businesses located throughout the Conway and Jackson, NH areas.

Fryeburg Fair October 1 – 8

FRYEBURG ME – Fryeburg Fair, Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic, is Maine’s largest agricultural fair second in New England in size only to Eastern States in Massachusetts. Today Fryeburg Fair sits on 185 acres and has over 100 buildings. The eight-day fair hosts over 3,000 animals including prize-winning draft horses, ponies, racing horses, oxen, dairy & beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits and much more. Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic is always during the first week in October. Fryeburg Fair has flourished since that first fair when William Walker of Lovell won $3 for the best acre of corn and William Spring of Brownfield earned $1 for the best seed wheat.

Fryeburg Fair attracts more than 225,000 people annually.

Hoot Night every Tuesday at the Wildcat Tavern

JACKSON NH – Hoot Night every Tuesday!  – Acoustic Open Mic with Host Jonathan Sarty. 6 – 8:30pm. BYOM-Bring Your Own Mic!

Following in the colorful tradition of some of the Valley’s most beloved musicians, Hoot Night Host Jonathan Sarty takes the stage every Tuesday Night at the Wildcat Tavern to create an incredible blend of music as local performers arrive with guitars in hand and visitors to the Valley make their first appearance at the legendary Hoot Night.

One of the region’s most accomplished performers, New England singer/songwriter Jonathan Sarty has performed throughout New England with his White Mountain Boys and most recently with his Jonathan Sarty Band. Jonathan’s steady upward trajectory over the years has seen him working and performing with some of the most accomplished musicians in the northeast. Sarty is perhaps best known as host of the popular New England based Cold River Radio Show.

Loon Cruise

Loon Cruise – August 25th

HOLDERNESS NH – Observe Common Loons with a Loon Preservation Committee (LPC) biologist and Science Center naturalist as they share the latest news about loon conservation, biology, and monitoring. Learn about the work LPC does across the state and on Squam to protect these unique migratory birds, the only loon that breeds as far south as New Hampshire. The cruise route maximizes the likelihood of loon observations and changes weekly.

Cruises are 90 minutes long and on canopied pontoon boats. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your cruise departure time. New Hampshire State law requires youth ages 12 and under to wear a life jacket on board. Cruises depart on Route 113 across from the Science Center.

Space on all cruises is limited. Advance reservations are required.

Cruise Rates: $30/adult; $28/senior (65+); $26/youth (up to age 15); members receive a $4 per person discount on lake cruises. Not recommended for children under age 3.

Jon Pousette-Dart – August 24th

NORTH CONWAY NH – Jon Pousette-Dart is best known as an American Classic and Folk Rock songwriter, musician, and performing artist. Growing up in Suffern, NY with a household of artists, including his father, grandfather, and sister, he separated himself by picking up a guitar at the age of 10 and mapping out a life in music before he ever attended a little league game. Since then it’s been a long and well-traveled road in the world of music. Jon has released 10 albums to date, which includes both the Pousette-Dart Band and solo albums.

Opener Jonathan Sarty is a native of New England and founder of the White Mountain Boys, the Jonathan Sarty Band, and the popular Cold River Radio Show (hosted by Jonathan and his renowned Cold River Radio Band). He is an accomplished producer, promoter, songwriter, recording artist, and performer with an extensive musical repertoire covering a variety of genres. Playing to crowds adeptly has made Jonathan Sarty a New England commodity, performing hundreds of shows a year regionally and throughout his homeland of New England.

This is an outdoor dinner concert. Should Inclement weather be expected, the event will be moved inside the Tavern. Dinner Must be Purchased at The Venue (not included in show ticket price.)
