shemekia copeland

BROWNFIELD, ME – Shemekia is like family to us here at SMAC. But don’t let that familiar characterization undermine her stardom. Rolling Stone says, “Copeland is a powerhouse, a superstar…she can do no wrong”. That is so true!!! Shemekia Copeland never holds back. Her instantly recognizable voice-capable of being sultry, assertive and roaring-delivers every song with unparalleled honesty and passion. Her wide-open vision of contemporary Americana roots and soul music showcases the evolution of a passionate artist with an up-to-the-minute Copeland is a powerhouse, musical and lyrical approach.

With her new Alligator Records album, America’s Child, Copeland confidently announces an electrifying new chapter in her constantly evolving story. Produced by Americana Instrumentalist Of The Year winner Will Kimbrough (who also plays guitar on the album) and recorded in Nashville, America’s Child is a courageous and fiery statement of purpose, a major step forward for the singer whose musical consciousness continues to expand as her star continues to rise.

With countless blues awards, Grammys, and the prestigious honors it is clear she is the reigning queen of the blues. We are so happy when she is here. Join the church of Shemekia!!

Acoustic Nuisance Kevin Dolan, Davey Armstrong, and Simon CrawfordJACKSON NH – A night with Acoustic Nuisance is a unique trip through the musical minds of it’s main protagonists: multi-instrumentalist Scots born Davey Armstrong……. fellow Scot and guitar/guitar-synth Folk-Rocker Simon Crawford…. and acoustic guitar and bouzouki playing London-Irishman Kevin Dolan..all ably accented by Becky Armstrong’s fine vocals, for an entertaining blend of acoustic/electric virtuosity and vocal harmony…

Humour is ever present, as is audience participation, and alongside a varied menu of Celtic and Americana, plus their own original tunes and songs, you are likely to be confronted by guitar, tin-whistles, Irish and Scottish Pipes, bouzouki, banjo, harmonica, bass-pedals and synths – and that’s just from Davey(!) …often while singing and playing 2 or 3 at the same time…

Hailing from the British Isles but living right here in the Mount Washington Valley, the band is looking forward to another fun night in the Cold River Radio Show Mini-Series and hoping old friends (and new!) will join them at this pre-Christmas event. Come on out!
